Pasta Bake with Ham & Vegetables


  • 25g butter
  • 175g penne or spiral pasta 
  • 1 onion, chopped 
  • 1 zucchini, chopped 
  • 150g green beans, chopped 
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped 
  • 1x275g jar tomato pasta sauce 
  • 100g cooked ham, cut into pieces 
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh basil 
  • 180g Mersey Valley Original Club Cheddar
  • Salt and freshly grounded black pepper 
  • 2 eggs 
  • 200ml thickened cream


Butter a large baking dish with 1 teaspoon butter.  Cook the pasta in plenty of boiling, lightly salted water until ‘al dente’. At the same time, melt remaining butter in a large saucepan and sauté onion, zucchini and green beans for 5 minutes. Drain pasta and add vegetables, tomatoes, pasta sauce, ham and basil.

Cut half the Mersey Valley Original Club Cheddar into small cubes, add to pasta, season to taste and spoon into baking dish. Whisk the eggs and cream together. Grate remaining Mersey Valley Original Club Cheddar, add to egg mixture, season and pour over pasta. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 200°C until set and golden brown.
